Grade: C5 Very Good to Fine. Folded, single-sided. Prior to restoration this was a theater-used poster with moderate handling/surface/fold wear. Would grade much higher if not for an accumulation of small flaws including paper chipping along the right side, separation and small tears around many folds and cross-folds, writing on the verso that bled through to the front on the man's left arm and the paper having darkened slightly with age. After an expert restoration the poster now presents as very fine to near mint at normal viewing distances.

Vittorio De Sica is one of the most important contributors to the post-WWII Italian neo-realist movement. He directed an incredible run of films in the late 1940s and early 1950s, starting with Shoeshine in 1946, Bicycle Thieves in 1948, Miracle in Milan in 1951 and culminating in Umberto D. in 1952. This Argentinian poster features wonderful art of the protagonist Umberto, along with his scene stealing white terrior. Incredibly, this was Carlo Battisti’s only acting credit, as his real occupation was that of a Professor of Linguistics at the Università degli Studi di Firenze.
