Tokyo Drifter is an incredible film that updates the lone wolf Ronin story to swinging 60s modern Tokyo. As always, Seijun Suzuki’s film about loyalty, betrayal and professionalism is a visual treat, with some of the most innovative and influential cinematography in all of cinema.
Before finally tracking down this poster, I was told by several long-time Nikkatsu and Suzuki collectors that an STB for this movie might not exist as they had never seen one surface. Well, it definitely makes an impression at nearly 5′ tall! Country-of-origin posters for Seijun Suzuki are becoming increasingly difficult to find as his reputation and recognition within the Japanese film industry continues to skyrocket! This tall, slender format had very low print numbers compared to regular Japanese B2s. They are very rare, especially for more popular film titles, and are highly sought after by collectors today.
