Grade: C4  Very Good. Folded, single-sided. Theater used poster with heavy handling/surface/fold wear, would grade higher if not for an accumulation of small flaws including pin holes in the corners, minor split and tears along the folds, a missing section of the left border approximately 5"x1.5", and general wear and tear from handling. When it was originally printed the paper in the upper right crinkled resulting in small small sections with no ink transfer. The missing border was replaced with vintage paper and conservation safe acid-free mending tissue and several areas with no ink transfer were touched up with acid free watercolor pencils.

Dario Argento’s Suspiria has come to define “giallo”, the typically graphic and ultra-violent sub-genre of horror unique to Italy. The term “giallo” actually comes from a series of trashy Italian mystery novels from the 1920s and 1930s, which supernatural horror, crime fiction, and slasher elements. The name also refers to the pulp novels themselves, as they were often issued with yellow covers — giallo is Italian for “yellow”.

This Italian 2-foglio for Suspiria is incredibly rare. There are (3) different styles of 2-foglio posters for this film, but this particular one is the only that features the haunting, macabre art from Mario De Berardinis — sadly De Berardinis’ final cinema poster before having a heart attack at only 47 years of age.
