This might be the most sought after non-theatrical poster for any of the Star Wars films. In 1978 a sci-fi magazine publisher commissioned Noriyoshi Ohrai, then still relatively unknown, to create this incredible fold-out Star Wars poster. The design caught the eye of Lucasfilm Japan who later commissioned him to create a poster design for Empire Strikes Back — which was also used in Australia. The relationship between Ohrai and Lucasfilm only grew stronger over the years as he was brought back in 1982 for a Star Wars re-release poster and in 1983 for the famed ‘starfall’ Return of the Jedi B2 poster. All of this can be traced back to this stunning fold out poster with its unique, spacecraft-in-profile design.
