One of the most inspirational movies put to celluloid, Rocky has basically become intertwined into the cultural fabric of America. Everyone loves the story of the underdog — down and out, no fancy technology or training, only raw heart and pride will allow him to succeed. The movie was a bit of an underdog as well. Made for only 1 million dollars and filmed in only 28 days, Rocky won over both the box office — as the highest grossing picture of 1976 — and the critics — getting nominated for 9 Academy Awards and 3 wins including Best Picture. A true American classic!
The US 1-sheet has an amazingly effective, yet understated design. It would be a wonderful centerpiece for a black & white only poster wall! This particular copy is also very special as it is both a pre-awards poster AND it has never been folded. This is one of only a handful of rolled copies of Rocky I’ve ever heard of! It was most likely plucked off the printers by an employee who appreciated the art; the success of and cultural impact Rocky would enjoy couldn’t possibly have been known to the person who saved this pre-awards beauty from the dreaded folding machines!
