Grade: C6 Fine. Folded, single-sided. Prior to restoration this was a theater-used poster with moderate handling/surface/fold wear. Would grade higher if not for wear including ink loss on the folds, and several additional folds/creasing along the bottom few inches of the artwork. The original colors were strong and after restoration, the poster presents as very fine to near mint from normal viewing distances.

Hot off Dracula’s success in 1931, Bela Lugosi starred in White Zombie as white Haitian voodoo master who commands a crew of zombies. The film was a hit and is widely considered the first full-length zombie movie. After White Zombie’s success, the writer/director Victor Halperin wrote a direct sequel titled Revolt of the Zombies. However, there was some sort of disagreement between the director and United Artists leading to a lawsuit and Halperin’s ouster. Halperin ended up producing Revolt of the Zombies himself but was barred by United Artists from advertising it as a sequel. Sadly, Halperin appears to have been black-balled from further work with all major studios as after Revolt fo the Zombies he only made a handful of films for small independent production companies.

This 1st release poster is incredibly rare and features a downright hypnotic design!
